Our first big pick of the year was a smashing success!
We had 24 people of all ages, participate in a multi-tree cherry pick that took place in Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland.
We picked small black cherries, and tart sour cherries, and even scored a big haul of sweet Bing(?) cherries!
While cherry trees can be notoriously tall and tricky to pick; the group pooled their resources and used everything at their disposal to get at the hard to reach fruit- including the "shake an catch with a tarp" technique, and of our tallest ladders- but there was still lots of low hanging fruit to keep the youngsters engaged.
In total we picked nearly 200 pounds!
