Developed by the Canadian Diabetes Association, the program is designed for the unique needs of low-income families. Taught by Chef Vivian Cruise, each 3-hour session will strengthen your cooking confidence and skill; improve your understanding of safe food handling and storage, meal planning, healthy snacks, shopping and much more. Featuring flavourful recipes from around the world, you will learn how to modify recipes and cook from scratch. You’ll learn how to make salad dressings with what is in your cupboards, how to make delicious and healthy roasted vegetables in season, and how to add variety and zip with inexpensive ingredients. The program is free, and runs on Saturdays 10am - 1 pm from May 4th to June 15th. Dear Community Leaders, Please forward this email to your members. For the next six months, Melissa Call and Sunshine Organics is working with farmers, producers, and consumers to try to help expand the local market for local products, and create a support network for both producers of agricultural products and consumers who want to buy local first. Because you are a producer of agricultural products, either as a farmer or a value-added producer, your feedback in our survey would be very helpful to our efforts. We are asking that you please fill out this survey to help us in our efforts to create a stronger buy local network. Feel free to forward this link to people you know. The more responses we receive, the easier it will be for us to gauge where we should focus our resources. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/86ZLWPS Thank you in advance for your help and participation, On behalf of Melissa Call, Rachel Mooney, and Sunshine Organics, Judi Tyabji So cool this week we have had two volunteers visiting from out of town helping out around LUSH Valley, doing some light renovation and decorating.
